𝐔𝐩𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬, 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 1897. Towneley, Burnley. In the centre of the photograph is the Towneley land agent, William Stewart. Standing next to a chair is Alice Edmondson, Lady O'Hagan's companion. The woman sitting on a chair is Caroline Roslyng, the housekeeper. The man standing on the left is John MacKay, the butler. He became the first curator when Towneley Hall became a museum in 1903.
